Where Are the GLS Juniors Now?

NYU’s Global Liberal Studies program requires all of its juniors to spend their entire year abroad. However, because U.S. citizens are banned from entry to most of the countries NYU’s abroad sites are located in, students must find another way to navigate the year.

On March 30, NYU lawyers filed an amicus curiae brief against the latest iteration of President Donald Trump’s “travel ban.”
On Oct. 18, the Brennan Center for Justice successfully sued Trump’s third iteration of the travel ban and put a stop to it before it would go into effect.

On Macrh 15, President Andrew Hamilton sent an email detailing the NYU's efforts to counter Trump's executive order banning immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries. However, some NYU activism groups are still unsatisfied with the administration's actions.
NYU alumni have started a petition demanding for NYU to be a sanctuary campus. So far, the petition has 513 signatures with a goal of 1000.

It is sometimes difficult, especially for students, to find proactive ways to help those in need.  Some decide to show their support through protests, like the Artistic Uprising protest in Washington Square Park on February 14.
