Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen named their ready-to-wear brand, Elizabeth and James, after their two younger siblings, drawing inspiration from Elizabeth’s uptown chic mixed with James’ downtown cool. For their 2014 Spring/Summer collection, they drew on all kinds of juxtaposition.
Diran’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection drew most of its inspiration from Art Week in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The collection made heavy use of sand, bronze, and cream colors and employed lightweight cottons and silk; these neutral tones were juxtaposed by Diran’s use of electric blue accents which fostered aesthetics reminiscent of central Asian royalty.
