The suspects approached the faculty member at around 12:20 a.m. The professor fell outside 29 Washington Square W. in an attempt to flee the scene, after which the two individuals assaulted and stole money from them.

The New York City Police Department was notified of the robbery, but no additional information is available at this time, according to the Campus Safety notice. The faculty member was not able to describe the suspects at the time of the report.

On Thursday afternoon, Campus Safety reported that two suspects robbed a student outside 1 University Place, also by Washington Square Park. The suspects claimed to have recently been released from prison, and that they were in possession of firearms. The NYPD was notified of the incident, but did not have additional information when asked for comment.

Washington Square park over the years has become unsafe as these crimes occur during daylight hours. In addition people unauthorized get into dorms. The university must take additional safety measures to keep every one safe. Hope the professor is okay.
