Charlotte Ronson Spring/Summer 2015

Anxious crowds of  spectators entered the excitingly feminine dream of Charlotte Ronson’s Spring/Summer 2015 presentation. As her sister, esteemed DJ Samantha Ronson, played soulful renditions of “Purple Rain,” the audience gathered around the presentation to first find quotes from classic style icons. Among them, Elizabeth Taylor’s cheeky quote “I fell of my pink cloud with a thud” then lead to outfits draped in hues of blue, cream, white, navy and light pink.

The clothes were of course frequented by Ronson’s signature feminine prints. This season, she opted for groundbreaking floral prints of a wide variety. Standout looks included a navy daisy-printed spaghetti-strap baby doll dress, a mint short jumpsuit with embossed detailing, and a black chambray collared ensemble.

Models sported middle parts, no makeup, and the occasional pair of circular sunglasses in bright white or tan with blue or black lenses.

The looks felt as though they were just a few Twiggy lashes short of being ’60s mod. One of the most interesting parts was without a doubt the selection of footwear. Ronson chose Teva-like sandals in shades of turquoise, white and silver. This decision to abandon heels and gravitate towards much more modern footwear, possibly inspired by Alexander Wang circa Spring/Summer 2013, completed the image for which Ronson seemed to be aiming.

With a vivid color palette, mod silhouettes, and a bit of modernism, Charlotte Ronson’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection translated as a contemporary take on a sixties dream.
