J. Lindeberg Spring/Summer 2015

If the J. Lindeberg Spring/Summer 2015 collection is guilty of something, it’s not playing it safe. Mixing homages to rock-and-roll in leather, studs, and animal prints with shiny polish oxfords and floral prints, this collection, entitled “Biotopia,” attempts to combine contrasting influences and styles in a way that occasionally clashes but never bores.

The adventurousness of this line is a departure from J. Lindeberg’s traditionally polished, wearable, yet safe collections. While much of this results in visually interesting and unique garments, a bit of tweaking could be used to tighten up the collection and maintain a consistent feel. The zebra-striped cardigan, for example, is out of place against otherwise edgy garments such as flawless floral and a hibiscus-embroidered sweaters that nod at traditional masculinity without an anxious commitment to it.

Pieces such as the leather button-downs and studded oxford loafers exemplify the collection’s unique take on classic, preppy staples. These pieces alone read edgier than the suede moto vests and even the models’ tattooed arms due to J. Lindeberg’s innovativeness and disregard for fashion tropes.
