Fashion bloggers and Instagram stars crowded the front rows of the packed Leanne Marshall Spring/Summer 2017 runway show, while the general public fought over the remaining seats. Incredible excitement filled the air as the audience anticipated the show.

Leanne Marshall, the Season 5 winner of “Project Runway,” does not disappoint in her Spring/Summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection. Marshall won her season of “Project Runway” with a feminine sea-inspired collection. Since Marshall’s win, she has continued building her brand’s aesthetic of refined elegance with light, flowing lines and delicate detailing.

Her latest collection stays true to her sense of feminine grace. Many of the looks In the S/S 2017 collection included delicate flowing silk pieces, although there were a few carefully structured coats in the collection as well. The tasteful use of sheer chiffon silk particularly stood out by adding a bit of of a sexy edge while still staying elegant. The palette was toned down in subtle shades of light blue, off-white and pale rose. All of Marshall’s pieces were incredibly well crafted and sophisticated, without seeming to try to hard.

A few pieces stood out in the collection. A sheer blue silk chiffon gown decorated with small silk baubles caught the eye, as did a two-toned rose and lavender silk gown. However, most of the looks were incredibly similar, working cohesively rather than being especially remarkable.

Atmosphere-wise, the choice of ambient tech music added to rather than took away from the collection, as did the subtle makeup and sleek chignons that most of the models sported.

Leanne Marshall’s collection was easily elegant and stayed classy without becoming matronly, although it could have stood out more among the other spectacles of Fashion Week.
