The lights dimmed, the music started and the first model walked down as the spotlights turned on. One by one the models strutted her path at the Spring/Summer 2016 Ready to Wear Custo Barcelona show. Designer Custo Dalmau outdid himself with his collection, creating 75 looks in total.

Staying true to the classic style of bright colors  as well as intricate patterns; each look held its own on the runway. The models wore looks ranging from flowing summer dresses, intensely patterned mens suits, and classic swimsuits with wavy hair, toned down makeup, and strappy stilettos for the women and sandals for the men.

The swimsuit line was interwove through the collection, introducing many styles. The swimsuit looks definitely spoke to the summer part of the collection, displaying solid colored bikinis but pairing them with extensively patterned cover-ups. TV personalit Andi Dorfman was in attendance and she  had nothing but positive words to say about the show.

“I loved it! I liked that it was a collection with bright colors, definitely stuff I would wear for the resort but it also mixed in a lot of Fall,” Dorfman said.

The looks that stood out the most were garments with a dominant solid color and calmer patterns, such as the white jumpsuit with a block of purple stripes across the midsection and purple stripes going down the front and back of the pants. This look was much simpler than than the rest but held an air of elegance through its simplicity.

Sheer tops dominated the runway ranging in colors from purple to white. A surprising amount of metallic was also used throughout several looks, giving off the appearance of a futuristic mode. Ranging from tribal patterns to a floral print, each look contained a modern style.

“The idea was to build something very contemporary and creative from the perspective of high-quality,” Dalmau said.

Overall the collection showcased a variety of looks that could be worn to a lunch with friends or a night out on the town. There was something for everyone in this line and I imagine there will be people desperate to get their hands on Dalmau’s clothes once they’re released.
