A number of rude and inappropriate comments in the Tandon 2021 Facebook group made their way back to NYU administration and led to severe consequences for the students involved.

Newly enrolled students in the Tandon School of Engineering exchanged a series of racist, sexist, ableist, sexually explicit and homophobic jokes over a chat and voice app named Discord.
President Andrew Hamilton names Lisa Coleman as the university's first Chief Diversity Officer. Coleman was previously the Chief Diversity Officer at Harvard.

During Weekend on the Square, the Incarceration to Education Coalition protested in front of Kimmel, gaining the attention of the university and prospective students. IEC aims to remove the checkbox on college applications to indicate whether the applicant has been convicted of a crime.

The Incarceration to Education Coalition at NYU is continuing its efforts to encourage the university to remove the box indicating criminal status on its application.
The NYU DREAM Team, who works to provide a safe space for undocumented students at the university, has raised concerns about the deportation of Juan Manuel Montes. Montes is the first public case of a protected DACA person being deported.

Prospective Students and Protests Flood Weekend on the Square

President Alexander Hamilton will be marching alongside NYU faculty and students at the Washington DC March for Science this Saturday. The March is a nonpartisan protest to defend science education and diversity in STEM.
