Is there anything more beautiful than a collaboration of surrealist Chinese art and thriving cultural growth? Amelia Pretious, design director of Bosideng’s menswear house, continued the label’s signature style of blending prominent Chinese culture with the ever-modern Western world.
Reflecting on Liu Bolin, China’s “The Invisible Man” and Kar Wai Wong’s film “In the Mood for Love,” this season’s menswear featured deep colors that displayed a vibe of modern Hong Kong.
Royal purple, navy, camel, and an acid yellow made a splash on down coats with fur-trimmed hoods, quilted casual wear, and playful dinner suits.
Most notable of all was the exquisite tailored grey pant and blazer combination on model Francisco Lachowski. Paired with a wedged brown leather Oxford shoe, the sweatshirt underneath the look featured the work of surrealist artist Chang Jinchao.
“There’s such a huge collaboration between fashion and art right now,” said Pretious.
Thank goodness for visionary lines like Bosideng who continue to merge culture, art, and fashion in clean, original collections.
