A black vegan pony-hair tuxedo with plum cascade silk georgette blouse stole the show at Jay Godfrey this Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 5. Inspiration from 70s rock-and-roll style and a 90s grunge aesthetic were paired with sleek lines and feminine pieces that make for an unexpected collection from Godfrey. This guilt free collection made from absolutely no animal products is not only eco-friendly and cruelty-free but makes a bold and stylish statement for Fall 2014, perfect for the woman who prefers a vintage look with an updated new twist.
Unlike a traditional runway show, Godfrey’s staged presentation of his collection, accompanied by guitarist Beau Croxton, created a relaxed atmosphere; perfect for the edgy inspiration behind the clothes. Standout pieces included a blue and black sequined hoodie and vibrant fringe jackets and dresses, a trend that seems to be taking launch this season.
While previous designs by Godfrey have included girly silhouettes in bright colors, this collection took bolder risks that ultimately paid off. Straying from the traditional aesthetic of Godfrey’s designs, the rock-and-roll spirit of embellished bomber jackets and daring snake patterns is definitely on the forefront of what we can expect to be trending this fall.
