The high barrel vaulted ceiling and dark mahogany wood of the High Line Hotel was the perfect backdrop for the crisp colors and ethereal fabrics of the PARKCHOONMOO show. The designer, Choonmoo Park employed her talent for creating clean and rigid silhouettes and delighted the audience by exploring delicate fabrics such as silk and organza. Wisps of the models’ hair gently swayed as they seem to glide past. This illusion came from the mesh boots and heels from the collection, and since their legs and feet were visible, they looked like they walked on air.
The models floated down the runway in whites, blacks, and cobalts, looking whimsically futuristic. The draping of the fabric shimmered from silver details as it shifted with the body movement. The collection had a touch of sportiness to it, making it ideal for everyday wear.
The models’ hair looked soft and airy, like delicate cashmere; Hairstylist Kein aimed to achieve a “night at the beach” windswept look. Lead makeup artist Dotti complemented the rest of the outfit by giving the models youthful, fresh makeup. She achieved a translucent skin look by mixing moisturizer and foundation, and most importantly, “leaving imperfections because they are perfections.” White iridescent powder from Make Up For Ever was dusted high on the cheekbones, but she warns to keep most of it relegated to the side of the face, not the front.
The show was as refreshing as the sea breeze. This spring, the PARKCHOONMOO woman embraces her feminine side, but the sheer fabrics reveal her ever-present strong soul.
