Wearing minimal makeup and only a few key statement accessories, the tall, thin model, Cecelia, poses as a handful of photographers snap her picture. She is dressed in a stunning light green two-piece ensemble, consisting of a cropped linen top paired with a pleated, two-toned skirt that flows to just beneath the knees.
In her 2014 “Desert Spring” Collection, Lyn Devon once again captured the essence of classic style. From the asymmetrical, structured design of many of the tops to the breezy skirts and pants, there is a very clear 1960s influence—one reminiscent of icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O.
In order to update these retro looks, Devon drew upon inspiration from her recent trip to Morocco. Colors featured throughout the collection include teal, sand, and terracotta. One particular piece, a breathtaking jumpsuit that the designer herself sported to the event, is embellished by a strikingly unique henna print. The beauty of each look truly is in the detailing.
As difficult as it is to glance away from the charming collection, the venue on East 66th Street is every bit as chic as the clothing. The space is light and airy, featuring white walls, light wooden floors, and large bay windows that open up to a balcony covered in foliage. The music, which ranges from jazzy, ’60s inspired tunes to relaxed Moroccan instrumental pieces, adds to the serene, spring-like environment. It is certainly a well-appreciated break from the chaos of many other Fashion Week shows.
Overall, the Lyn Devon Spring 2014 Collection is designed for the woman with a timeless sense of fashion. Though certainly not the answer for the edgier crowd, Devon’s highly wearable pieces never fail to charm.
