NYU’s Network (NYU-NET) was disrupted at approximately 1:35 PM Monday afternoon, leading to slow and interrupted internet service for the remainder of the afternoon and into the evening.
According to NYU’s Information Technology Services, there was a problem with the Domain Name System servers during which IP addresses could not be assigned. ITS claims that the servers go down from time to time and that they are investigating the issue.
“ITS has applied a workaround to provide DNS service while the root cause addressed,” the latest service update said. “To leverage this workaround, affected clients should restart their computer or renew their DHCP client leases.”
More updates to come.
