Fire alarms went off in Tisch Hall, the NYU Stern School of Business building, shortly after 8 a.m. this morning. According to university spokesman, Philip Lentz, there was no fire.
“The alarm, which is in the basement of Tisch Hall, went off because some dust particles got caught in the air monitoring system (which is very sensitive) at the co-gen plant next door,” Lentz said in an email.
Students who evacuated the building waited outside for about 20 minutes, during which time three fire trucks arrived on the scene. Students were allowed back inside the building at approximately 8:25 a.m.
