It’s 2 a.m. and you have been studying for hours. Your head is spinning with too much information and your midterm is the next morning.
This is the point when you are likely to grab a friend and a popular take-out menu. Or maybe throw on a pair of slippers and step out to a convenient late-night dining attraction.
Regardless of what you want, these five places never fail to impress NYU students and help make studying a lot more bearable.
Insomnia Cookies | 50 W. 8th St.
What better way to regain energy than by eating a warm, delicious homemade cookie? While Insomnia cookies can be picked up at their store on Eighth Street, many prefer to have them delivered straight to their door. A single cookie of any flavor can be ordered for a mere $1.25. With a dozen different flavors and sizes, these desserts will leave you feeling awake and satisfied.
Gray’s Papaya | 402 6th Ave.
Gray’s Papaya on Eighth Street is known for its warm, cheesy slices that students all around campus crave. Priyadarshini Das, a Liberal Studies freshman, said, “Whenever I feel overwhelmed my friends and I split a pie from dollar pizza. For just eight bucks we get all the energy, protein and carbohydrates necessary to keep moving.”
Cozy’s Soup and Burger | 739 Broadway
When walking down Broadway, it is likely that you will run into Cozy’s, a traditional diner open 24 hours. If you are looking for a source of dairy, try the fresh yogurt, cottage cheese or cereal. If you are hoping to fill up on heavy starches, order a hearty basket of appetizers or a pasta dish. And if your mission is to find an early breakfast, Cozy’s has just the right omelets, pancakes and bagels with spread. Meals are approximately $10.
Space Market | 1 University Place
Space Market has an assortment of fresh produce one can indulge in without feeling guilty about consuming too many calories at such a late hour. “I discovered the space market last year and have been going regularly ever since,” said Tisch sophomore Leah Duncan. Sandwiches range from $6 – $10 and fresh fruits are sold in portioned containers for $4.99.
French Roast | 78 W 11th St.
A popular favorite at this 24-hour cafe is the Brioche French Toast, the ideal balance of carbs, protein and sugar. It is dipped in a thick egg batter and topped with decorative powdered sugar. At only $10, this breakfast special is a can’t-miss sensation!
