Top five drinks to beat fall chill

Autumn in New York City means that the leaves are changing, designers are unveiling their fall lines and coffee shops are introducing their seasonal warm beverages that are perfect for enjoying on a chilly morning before class. Here is a list of some warm drinks that NYU students are loving this season.

HOT RIBENA, $2 – $4 — Tea & Sympathy | 108 Greenwich Ave.

Even though a Britain-based company originally marketed Ribena as a soft drink, Tea & Sympathy serves this blackcurrant cordial piping hot. Extremely high in Vitamin C content, this drink is not only great-tasting, but also perfect for remedying that inevitable fall cold.

CHAI LATTE, $3 – $4 — The Bean | 824 Broadway

This particular beverage may be available everywhere, but the chai tea latte at The Bean is worth checking out. It completely lacks the bitter tang that seems to linger on the tongue after drinking chai lattes from some other locations, and it somehow warms the body. As an added bonus, The Bean’s atmosphere is casual and conducive to studying, which is great for stressed-out midterm cramming.

HOT APPLE CIDER, $2 – $3 — Greenmarket Farmers Markets | Union Square West

This delicious, seasonally appropriate beverage can be purchased at any of the Greenmarket Farmers Markets around the city, and NYU students can easily find one conveniently close by. With a perfect apple-to-cinnamon ratio, the Greenmarket’s hot apple cider is a must-have this season.

CIOCCOLATA CON PANNA, $3 – $5 — Eataly | 200 5th Ave.

Despite only being open for a year, this cafe and market has managed to claim a spot on CBS News’ list of “5 Best Cups of Hot Chocolate” in New York City.  For those students with a sweet tooth, the rich, dark and creamy cioccolata con panna is a perfect cold-weather treat.

AMERICANO, $2.50 — ‘ino | 21 Bedford St.

For someone who has a little more time to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or for people who have yet to experience what a good cup of coffee is, this is the place to go. ‘ino is intimate and cozy, and the Americano is no average cup of joe. Served with just the right amount of light foam on top, the coffee is potent without being too overbearing and frothy without being too weak. The best part? It can be enjoyed any time of the year.
