Raoul, an up-and-coming luxury brand from husband and wife team Douglas and Odile Benjamin of Singapore, debuted its spring ready-to-wear and accessories line. Benjamin described her newest collection as a blend of the urban and the natural. The color palette ranged from black with fence-like patterns, to faded, natural pinks and whites. While the beginning looks were bolder, the ending looks were soft and feminine, making the line appealing to a wide range of tastes and styles.
Benjamin used many unique textures and pattern combinations, as seen in one leather top in an dusty rose color with eyelet cutouts. She suggested pairing this unique blouse with her eyelet shorts, in the same dusty rose or in black, for added contrast.
Delicate details, such as lace prints and hand-sewn embellishments, made Raoul’s spring looks really stand out. Benjamin said her embellishments were inspired by intricate earrings. She even had earrings made into brooches that were then hand-sewn onto the pieces. One evening gown’s entire bodice was even covered with these intricate brooches.
Another standout of the collection, two cutout swimsuits, both done in a combination of sea foam, coral, and bright white, spoke to the natural side of the urban-to-nature spectrum. The suits managed to look both sexy and contemporary, even with a high-waisted, retro cut.
Overall, Raoul’s spring collection embodied a distinctive and feminine look. Every piece showcased a fresh detail, exclusive pattern, or new color.
