Starting off as a hair and make-up artist in the fashion industry, Erin Barr debuted as a designer in the Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week. With her vision of today’s “modern woman,” Erin Barr’s Spring 2013 collection offers both wearable styles and classy glamour. The slow jazz background music, sleek furniture, and stacks of books gave the show a vibe of both smart and sexy.
Barr’s collection was a study in clean angles. The simple bursts of colors, white, black, red, and grey, and the sensationally high slits in the dresses worked together to create a linear silhouette. With the addition of beautifully shiny, 5-inch heels, the total effect was even leaner. Barr stayed true to her solid color palette, adding only a touch of red and black zebra pattern to a couple of tops. Several tops had pointed collars for a sharp and edgy vibe. The designer also played with the different elements of hard and soft, utilizing both leather and jersey fabrics.
In keeping with her minimal styling, Erin Barr was absent any accessories and only sported adorable eyewear, sponsored by Moscot. Several of the models wore either cat-eye sunglasses or clear eyeglasses that added to the chic city look. The makeup was extremely natural, with only nude and bronze eye shadows, allowing for the vibrant coral lip color to pop. The models exuded vintage sparkle with their loosely tied, side-way buns.
