Johaan Abraham is a sophomore studying Media, Culture and Communications in Steinhardt with a minor in Business Studies in CAS. He identifies as an Indian-Sri Lankan cisgender man. He comes from a middle-class socioeconomic background. He was raised Christian but considers himself more spiritual. Abraham is an international student from Malaysia but has relatives in the United Kingdom since his mom was born there. His time in Malaysia and in the United Kingdom has led him to question who he is — he often feels himself trying to prove how brown he is. According to Abraham, coming to New York has let him see the complexity of his identity as a strength instead of a weakness. He is in the Malaysian Student Association, UNICEF and the Marketing Society of NYU.
