While officials should be more transparent regarding the details of the endowment, the medical school should be free to spend Shkreli’s money to advance scientific research.
The university has no business asking current and outgoing students for donations, and shouldn’t have to regardless. As he begins his tenure as president of this university, Andrew Hamilton should continue to look toward alumni and donors, rather than current students, to finance NYU.
