Excitement buzzed as Minh Le, founder of 831MINHLE, debuted her first-ever New York Fashion Week collection. Le got her start in fashion at a young age, creating clothes for her dolls out of scraps of fabric. One can only imagine Le was reminded of her mere beginnings as her models strode out in beautiful whites, beiges and pinks.
As the lights dimmed, models began to walk with elegance and poise. Keeping makeup to a minimum, often with just a bold lip, along with a minimalistic low bun, Le let the clothes speak for themselves. On display was a collection of delicate shapes and pale colors – the epitome of femininity. Le showed range from summery white lace dresses to sheer black ensembles with colorful red, white and yellow floral stitching. With ruffles, embroidery and sequins aplenty, the collection initially might seem ornate, but with the beautiful simplicity Le applies to each of her designs is actually quite refined and graceful.
From a youthful blush silk dress that came down to the floor – accented with beaded straps, no less – to a classy, nude wide leg pant, Le was most successful at creating looks that would make her models, and anyone who wears her clothes, feel beautiful and confident. If Le’s objective for her inaugural show was to cultivate a collection of timeless designs while taking a modern approach, she surpassed her goal effortlessly.
