High tech, high intensity, high fashion. Chromat’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection of sportswear, swimwear and accessories took the relationship between fashion and physical activity to new levels.
The runway itself created an atmosphere with high volume, up-beat, urban music and flashing light fixtures. The audio and light elements altered the levels of intensity based on the value of the garment. Each look remained true to Chromat’s signature style of cut outs, symmetry and geometric shapes. The collection was mostly black, with pops of major color.
Designer Becca McCharen created the looks reminiscent of body armor, and strength was a clear component throughout the collection. Chromat partnered with Intel Curie Module to create two looks that are responsive to the body’s temperature, stress levels and adrenalin.
The Chromat Adrenaline Dress reacts to the body’s adrenaline, while The Chromat Aeros Sports Bra has built in cooling vents, reacting to perspiration levels. The goal of the line was to infuse fashion with technology in creating an intelligent design with maximized capabilities.
Unlike past collections, the Spring/Summer 2016 collection of Chromat consisted of more wearable pieces. Chromat remains known for having its designs worn by Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and FKA Twigs. This collection will prove to be no less popular among fans, with the beautifully constructed pieces paving a new way for fully functional fashion.
