Christian Siriano Spring/Summer 2015
September 11, 2014
Christian Siriano’s dramatic aesthetic invited guests to a world of crystalized glamour, though it hardly began that way.
Taking the primary spots down the runway were a multitude of stark white looks. Clad in head-to-toe white, laser-cut tiered pencil silhouettes or raffia skirts began to beg the question of whether Siriano had tapered his style down for the season. The answer: a definite no.
Soon, a mint heel introduced with a white gown became the color of the next looks to storm the runway. Mint gave way to a seafoam green that left construction in silhouette and form to be the complete focus. Gowns of brocaded seafoam flowed with bustling skirts in a drop-waisted hem. Elongated lapels swept a striking coat atop a sweetly simple cocktail number. As seafoam faded, the moon rose in shades of midnight blue.
While first displayed with a ’50s glamour brocade skirt in seafoam, the new hue perfectly accented a sleeveless white top gown gown complete with a voluminous midnight blue skirt fit for a princess. As the pieces slowly transitioned back into whites, Siriano’s final pieces took the runway in a crystalized dream.
Stunning in a softer balance of the mint and seafoam, a new line of looks constructed with crystal detailing shimmered as the rocks caught the light at every angle, especially in a double-tiered printed cocktail dress. Though the final look, a crystal-encrusted sheer two-piece reminiscent of Britney’s “Toxic” days, did little to truly end the show, a breathtaking piece had the true last word with a sheer open-back crystal-detailed blouse atop a full hemline skirt in form-fitting midnight blue.
While Siriano’s collection may not be the most on trend, his fans obviously hold a strong connection to him, as well. Seated in the front row alone were Lindsey Vonn, Amy Schumer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Coca Rocha, Mena Suvari, Willow Shields and Uza Abuda. With a cohesive collection of strong looks and one of the most coveted front rows, the young designer definitely holds a skill for classic style that continues to be one of the most refreshing voices of today.
