Leave it to BCBGMAXAZRIA to end a show with the runway almost floating with tranquility, ease, and power. This Spring 2014 collection was all about juxtaposition. From the layering of soft georgette fabrics with severe dobby patterning, models made a statement in their clothes while still remaining calm, collected, and feminine.
With a whispering palette of black and white, chambray, and blush, BCBG never failed to spark an interest not just in construction but in color. Differing from last spring, the collection featured a number of mixed prints that suited its theme perfectly. These watercolor prints seemed to have been born with the fabrics on which they appeared and truly provided an extra boost of fun while still remaining elegant.
While the signature details of linear construction were still apparent in this season’s clothes, they were watered down mostly by their prominent use in the clutches; this is not to say that the signature tailored line detail did not make its way into this season’s tops. It was impeccably displayed on classic, leather furnished jackets and a recurring tuxedo top donned with a chest piece of accordion pleats. This sleeveless top, varied in white, off-white, and a pale blush, truly took the spotlight of contrasting masculinity and femininity.
Spotted in the front row were none other than Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia, two of the most prominent women in fashion. Obviously, they along with many spectators are ready to capture BCBGMAXAZRIA’s Spring 2014 look: an effortless blend of feminine class and bold strength.
