“Happy Casual,” Desigual’s newest collection, is the perfect description for the brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 runway, and for the brand itself.

As the lighting dimmed in the Theatre, the attendees heard a cheeky set of songs fill the room, complete with voiceovers of Spanish pick-up lines and laughter. The music set the mood for a fun and vibrant show, which was opened by supermodel Adriana Lima, who sported a floral Hawaiian print top and die-cut floral print shorts.

The models all wore floral headpieces in poppy red, Mexican pink, saffron and teal, colors that were inspired by nature’s flora and fauna.

Maxi dresses with beading danced down the runway, in neutral colors such as onyx, white and jade, and served as the canvas for the brightly colored flower print that embellished the looks.

Desigual presented a collection of loose-fit tops, tunics, mini dresses and swing shorts that made for relaxed and chic looks. Their happy-go-lucky tone was only offset by a handful of varsity jackets in crochet and weaving that, despite their colorfulness, remained cool against the warm weather that the rest of the pieces celebrated. This brought a great balance to the collection, which also featured tank dresses in a classic black and white style but with a touch of Desigual, printed in kaleidoscopic jacquard.

Models in sundresses and sleeveless playsuits carried speech bubbles reading “Happy to be here,” “Looking for a boyfriend,” and “I love photographers,” which received a humorous response from the photographers at the end of the catwalk.

The show ended as the models reappeared as flower girls, again headed by Lima, decorating the room with pink and red petals.Three last speech bubbles appeared on the runway as a thank-you note from the designers.
