Student debt is a national epidemic that is crippling some of the most vulnerable members of the workforce, and it is the role of universities and government to help stem the crisis.

With Arne Duncan's resignation, the Department of Education must do more to address the growing burden of student debt, particularly by regulating student loan companies and loan contractors.
New data shows students from low-income families graduate from NYU saddled with huge federal loans while the university spends its billion-dollar endowment on expansion.
Given that NYU's alumni networks consistently rank on top 10 lists of "universities with richest alumni," there's no good reason to ask current students to donate to financial aid funds (except possibly mismanagement). Also, NYUers graduate with astronomical amounts of debt.
The bursting student loan debt bubble equates to far more than partisan divides for students and families across the nation, including many on this campus.
