51 Bachelor degree graduates
As the 2013 Silver School of Social Work graduates walked into the golden auditorium at the Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center, camera flashes filled the room and proud families and friends waved from their seats. Dean Lynn Videka welcomed guests and graduates to the 53rd Silver School convocation and recognized all the different types of students graduating today. The ceremony presented the graduates in the Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral programs. Commencement speaker Honorable Edolphus Towns, former United States Congressman, charmed the crowd with his lighthearted yet inspiring speech. “Don’t quit or sit in amazement,” he said, reminding the graduates that success does not come easily. Meanwhile, undergraduate student speaker Cordelia Brady spoke of a personal experience that made her realize that every day she and her fellow graduates will have the choice to acknowledge and learn from other people, and they should welcome these opportunities.
