Being neither a sovereign nation nor a state has prevented the island’s residents from enjoying the full rights of American citizenship: Puerto Rican residents are not allowed to vote in federal elections, they have no representation in the Senate, and the delegate in the House of Representatives serves more as a figurehead.
NYU student Aneri Mehta led a campaign with the Animal Welfare Collective to create a plant-based pop up at Lipton dining hall. For a whole week, the dining hall served vegan food to be more sustainable and healthy.
