At first the dearth of decoration seemed prosaic but as soon as the music, smooth horns mixed with heavy bass, cascaded out from the speakers and the models, sporting boxy jackets and billowing skirts, cascaded out from backstage, the perfect connection between the setting and John Patrick’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection for Organic became apparent.
Angel Sanchez’s usage of intricate embroidery and detail captivated the crowd. His collection embodied a very feminine aesthetic with flowing evening gowns, and juxtaposed it with dark makeup that gave each model a tough edge.

Nanette Lepore, a fashion week favorite known for her use of expressive prints and bold colors, presented an otherworldly Fall/Winter 2013 show at the Stage at Lincoln Center, themed “Nanette on Mars.” The designer displayed ready-to-wear pieces in deep colors with striking iridescent accents, lively prints and textured materials.
Giovanna Randall, the pre-med student, opera singer and now lead fashion designer of Honor has received much critical praise over her last few fashion week collections. That being said, her reputation will hopefully cushion the dent left by her Fall/Winter 2013 collection.
