Venexiana brought rock and roll to the runway for this Fall 2013. Kicking off the show with a nod to old Hollywood glamor, all of the looks merged movie star elegance with an avante garde, punk edge.
The models stunned in an array of evening gowns including many backless numbers and quite a few with attention grabbing, red carpet ready trains. From lace to velvet and chiffon, there was at least one unique element to each of the dresses.
The designer, Kati Stern, clearly has an eye for detail and tailoring– the dresses each had some sort of complementary embellishment and were cut to highlight the model’s body.
Equally detailed and precise were the coiled up dos all of the models were sporting. The asymmetrical braids and wraps let the necklines of the dresses take center stage. Winged eyes and muted red lips kept with the classic meets edgy vibe present throughout the show.
Also of note were the coats accompanying many of the floor skimming dresses; oversize furs in colors including maroon and deep purple amped up the show’s punk factor while showcasing Stern’s versatility and skill.
Against a backdrop of angsty rock music, the juxtaposition of Venexiana’s ethereal dresses kept viewers wanting more. The final dresses, a collection of metallic and sequined numbers, was a fitting way to close such a stand out show.
