For the label’s latest Spring 2013 collection, Bespoken designer Liam Fayed described it as a take on the “tailored but disheveled gypsy” look, which translated into a play on the timeless, rugged nomad.
The first look for Bespoken sets the tone for the entire collection. With a composition of abstraction, color and attention to detail, this outfit mixes refined British tailoring with a hint of nomadic, almost surfer fun.
What really shines in this collection is the beautiful, tasteful and lighthearted mix of colors, patterns and textures. One look had a blue and white camo shirt, a patterned gray silk tie with a navy trouser. The shirt and tie combination were only complimented by the model’s diamond-patterned headscarf, complete with a silk handkerchief hanging out of his back pocket and tattoo sleeves.
The boldest yet most interesting look in the collection included a wide-brimmed dark burgundy hat; a light red and white striped button-up shirt, red diamond-patterned shorts and a fantastic silk tie belted around the shorts with a windsor knot.
In the same vein, the designers of Bespoken emphasize bold patterned pants —the new must-have in any man’s closet — showing a hazy blue diamond-pattern, a bright blue polka dot and subtly dark uneven striped black trousers. And for the toned-down pants, Bespoken shows a first excellence in styling with fresh and eye-catching knit ties that acted as belts.
With the help of bold pocket squares, Bespoken imbues pops of color throughout the collection from a bright red and blue camo shirt, to a deep red on the underside of an upturned collar of a blazer to eccentric socks the models wear.
What Bespoken has done with this collection is shown that menswear should be — and for them is — a blend of well-crafted artistry in tailoring with a bold, eclectic twist.
