With the 67th annual Grammy Awards ceremony coming up this Sunday, WSN’s Arts Desk took a poll of the newsroom in anticipation of music’s biggest night. Whether you had a “brat summer” or know every word to “Not Like Us,” everyone is buzzing to hear what will be recorded as 2024’s best.
The consensus seems to be that female artists will dominate the Grammys record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist categories. In the words of Film & TV editor Dani Biondi, “While I am not a member of the Recording Academy, it is undeniable that this was the year for female artists — a ‘Femininomenon,’ if you will. Whether you had a ‘brat summer’ or you ‘Juno’-positioned your way through the fall semester, there is no doubt in my mind that the top awards of the night are going to the women that shaped 2024 sonically.”
