Ty Rivers is a junior studying Drama in Tisch and Media, Culture and Communications in Steinhardt. He identifies as a black cisgender man. He is Afro-Latino and identifies as Dominican and Puerto Rican. Rivers is able-bodied, and he comes from a low socioeconomic background. He was raised Catholic and identifies as such. From Harlem, New York, Rivers explains that he grew up in a community with misogynistic and homophobic views; he attributes the limited views to how the residents who grow up there continue to stay in the same environment and thus do not get exposure to other views. Rivers is a resident assistant at Third Avenue North Residence Hall.
