The opening music of Norisol Ferrari’s runway show sounded like the beginning of an adventure film, which set the stage perfectly for the exhilarating journey on which Ferrari was about to take the anticipating crowd. Ferrari’s Spring 2013 collection can best be described as sophisticated with a playful flair. Decorated headpieces, cape-like overcoats and tops, and modish floppy hats offset the more refined blazers, coats, and hip-hugging skirts.
While black, white, grey and brown pieces dominated the collection, there was an occasional pop of color, even if only in the lipstick, nails, or shoes. The collection clearly had a little bit of everything: business-chic buttoned down dresses and casual shorts with cape tops, to glamorous garb—some of which included metallics—fit for a walk on the red carpet. One of the more playful dresses had a tight-fitted, black bodice and a white, flowy bottom with a splash of red. A sleek, yet somewhat sporty, look included tight-fitted black Capri pants and a peplum top.
While most of the models strutted down the runway in the familiar manner, a select few danced and twirled their way down to music that included “Big Spender” from Sweet Charity.
Perhaps the most intriguing look was saved for last when a strut down the runway turned into a walk down the aisle. Ferrari finished off the show with a statement, showcasing a sateen-like wedding outfit with buttons down the front, a cape-like train, and an ornamented veil.
