On Macrh 15, President Andrew Hamilton sent an email detailing the NYU's efforts to counter Trump's executive order banning immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries. However, some NYU activism groups are still unsatisfied with the administration's actions.
While what students' concerns are extremely important, hijacking an event meant to help address another very large issue on campus is not a smart way to create a constructive dialogue.
NYU's Student Labor Action Movement organized a rally today to protest the lack of student representation on NYU's Board of Trustees and board member John Paulson's connection to President Donald Trump.
While the effort to increase affordability is certainly appreciated, if it is to be done successfully it should provide students an equal opportunity to achieve an NYU education, not grant that privilege only to well-off students.

Hamilton’s effort to cultivate the sciences is a good sign not just for students or professors in the departments themselves, but also for the rest of the community to be more informed of NYU’s broad academic reach.
The issue of campus diversity was an opportunity for the Hamilton administration to prove that it could make good on its word. Instead, we got broken promises, forgotten deadlines and needlessly puerile rebuffs from official spokespeople.
