With NYU being a overwhelmingly liberal school, many students and faculty responded to Gavin McInnes's comments in the same way. However, being intolerant of anyone's ideas to the point of violence is an attack on the First Amendment.
NYU canceled a College Republicans talk on Nov. 17, where they planned to host British journalist Milo Yiannopoulos as part of his "Dangerous Faggot Tour."
In the interest of free speech on campus, the College Republicans should be free to host Yiannopoulous. Whether someone wants to take him seriously as a political voice or dismiss him as a clownish caricature should be up to that individual.
The New York College Republicans Federation has been plunged into controversy as Cornell Republicans threatened to sue SPS senior Eli Nachmany for decertifying the club after it officially endorsed Libertarian Gary Johnson.
