we should not view body disorders as solely a female issue, lest we craft a new misogyny. We must fight for both male and female physical health and mental well-being.
As mental illness becomes a bigger and bigger part of the national discourse on personal health, it is imperative that we create some sort of safety net for the people who are struggling. Universities must be a huge part of this movement, because they represent a large portion of the population that is most at risk.
The way that protesters at the University of Missouri have used safe spaces as a cudgel against journalists is counterproductive to their movement. They are antagonizing the single best medium for their message to get across.

Heroin addiction is getting a lot more attention than crack ever did, and it's because of the difference in race. White heroin victims get more attention on the national news because our society still places the concerns of the white middle class over the black urban poor.
Unpaid internships are just a way to exploit cheap labor from college students in dire need of work experience. They place undue stress on students without providing any short-term wages or long-term career advancement possibilities.
The resignation of University of Missouri chancellor Tim Wolfe is an important first step for student protests against racism. But getting a president to resign is not everything; the movement must have clear goals and means in mind if they are to meaningfully improve race relations at their school.
