Calvin Luo S/S 2018

In contrast to his previous soft-grunge inspired looks, Calvin Luo displayed a sleek and tailored collection for his Spring/Summer 2018 collection.

The show began with a small presentation of pastel blue and white silk shirts, pants, jumpsuits and rompers that almost blended into the pale wall at which the models stood. As seen throughout the presentation and runway, his pieces kept with the androgyny from the previous season, but this time offering cooler, pearlescent tones and fabrics. The palette broke only slightly with the inclusion of red and bright yellow jackets.

Models wore minimal makeup and naturally tousled hairstyles. Accessories rarely diverged from a thin choker, the only exception being a pair of lightly tinted sunglasses here or there.

Embodying a tough skater-girl turned fanciful suburban woman who spends her time “riding down the eerie boulevards of suburban America”, as stated in the show notes, Luo’s collection seamlessly carried this analogy throughout the show.
