Tadashi Shoji Spring/Summer 2015

As the grand Ca’ d’Oro’s façade conjured pangs of wanderlust, spectators were left in a dream of Venice as Tadashi Shoji showcased his Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

Shoji’s signature lace glided down the runway in frosted pastels, ivory, and navy, drawing upon the colors found throughout the city. The streets of Venice came alive as stripes summoned the linear architecture of the city and corded lace evoked its rich history. Intricate details like Rococo embellishments and chain mesh shimmered beneath the lights, giving feminine silhouettes a touch of whimsy.

While some silhouettes were more modern than others, the airy breath of the designs helped tie the collection together. A standout amongst the sea of dresses and skirts was a blue stone embroidered tulle collar tee with longer sleeves and a boxy shape to add more of a masculine appeal to the rest of the collection.

Tadashi Shoji continued to use capes in this collection, which have been given an update from their winter design by going lighter, both in fabric and color. One noticeable difference was that this season’s collection lacked the bold jewel tones present in past collections, making black and navy much more refreshing when featured for 2015.

As Tadashi Shoji’s collection moves west to capture the “Artistry of Venice,” time will only tell where Tadashi dreams of next.
