Carson's fear of a Muslim president underscores Islamophobia in the American political system. Legally and politically, religion should not discount anyone from being president.
With dysfunction running rampant in Washington, the American public needs a powerful grassroots movement that puts pressure on Congress to mobilize, not one that exacerbates the problem.
Rather than working with their counterparts to fuse a compromise between two ideologies, a faction of the GOP has effectively muted a democratically elected voice and has significantly compromised legislative efficiency.
