While classes on Monday were moved online, WSN photographers trekked across the city anyway to make the most of the snow day.

Students wandered though Washington Square Park, collecting moments of stillness as the snow fell. From building snowmen to dodging squirrels, the park remained lively despite the frosty weather.

In Union Square, halal carts remained open — planted in the snow — as the street became indistinguishable from the sidewalk.

Despite the cold, New Yorkers still gathered in Central Park to enjoy the winter scenery. Many even sledded on various apartment items, from laundry baskets to surfboards.

For those who live far from campus, the beauty of the snow quickly became a hindrance as the L train was packed to the brim, stalled at First Avenue station, as a result of the storm. What can usually be trusted as a 20-minute journey home stretched to almost an hour.

Students came home to enjoy surreal views from rooftops and watch the snow flurry from their windows.

After all the snow settled and students returned to their warm apartments, MTA workers trekked into the cold to prepare the city for the upcoming workweek.
