Crime Log: Oct. 21-29

The Department of Public Safety received eight reports of larceny, five reports of controlled substance, three reports of harassment and one report of forcible sex offense between Oct. 21 and Oct. 29.

Larceny

On Oct. 21 at 3:15 p.m., a student reported that she left her backpack with her wallet and keys  underneath a table in Bobst Library at 2:30 p.m. and discovered it missing when she returned 15 minutes later. NYPD was not notified.

On Oct. 22 at 10:10 p.m. in Hayden Residence Hall, a student reported that a Halloween decoration was stolen from her door; another resident admitted to taking the decoration. Police were not notified.

On Oct. 23 at 8:30 p.m., a visitor stated that she left her bag with her phone and wallet in it under a table in the lobby of 721 Broadway at 6 p.m. and found it missing when she came back at 7:30 p.m. Police notification
was declined.

On Oct. 26, a student reported that she left her bike chained outside Coles Sports Center at 12:40 p.m. and discovered the bike missing and its lock cut when she returned at 3:15 p.m. Police were not notified.

On Oct. 26, a student reported that on Oct.19 at 9 a.m. he left his leather jacket in the varsity room of Coles and discovered it gone when he returned an hour later. NYPD was not notified.

On Oct. 26 at 11 p.m., a student reported that she left her bike secured outside Tisch Hall on Oct. 23 and discovered it missing when she returned Oct. 26. Police were not notified.

On Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m., a student reported that he had secured his bike to a sign on the corner of Washington Place and Mercer Street at 10:30 a.m. and discovered it missing when he returned at 6:20 p.m. Police notification was declined.

On Oct. 27 at 5 p.m., a student reported that he secured his bike to a bike rack on Waverly Place at 9:55 a.m. and discovered his bike and cable lock missing when he returned at 4 p.m. A police report was filed.

On Oct. 29 at 10:30 p.m., a student reported that he secured his bike to the canopy in front of the Steinhardt building and discovered his bike and chain missing when he returned at 10:15 p.m. Police notification was declined.

Controlled Substance

On Oct. 22 at 7:35 p.m., Public Safety responded to a report of an alleged controlled substance in Gramercy Green Residence Hall. A small amount of marijuana was recovered and the case has been referred to
Judicial Affairs.

On Oct. 24 at 10:20 p.m., Public Safety responded to a report of an alleged controlled substance in Brittany Residence Hall. A small amount of marijuana was recovered and the case has been closed.

On Oct. 24 at 11:55 p.m., Public Safety responded to a report of an alleged controlled substance in Rubin Residence Hall. A small amount of marijuana was recovered and the case has been closed.

On Oct. 29 at 11:30 p.m., Public Safety responded to a report of an alleged controlled substance in Broome Street Residence Hall. A small amount of marijuana was recovered and the case has been referred to
Judicial Affairs.

On Oct. 29 at 11:35 p.m.,  Public Safety responded to a report of an alleged controlled substance in Third Avenue North Residence Hall. A small amount of marijuana was recovered and the case has been referred to
Judicial Affairs.

Harassment

On Oct. 24 at 1:30 a.m., a student reported that, during an argument, she was hit on her shoulder and back by her friend. Police notification was declined.

On Oct. 24 at 8:45 p.m., a student reported that she received various threatening messages and phone calls from her ex-boyfriend. Police were notified.

On Oct. 25 at 2:40 p.m., a student reported that since Oct. 20 an unknown male has been sending her sexually explicit text and Instagram messages. Police were not notified.

Forcible Sex Offense

On Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m., a student reported that she was forcibly fondled on Sept. 5 by another NYU student in Goddard Hall. Police notification was offered but declined at the time of the report.
