Students complain that NYU has no community, but what builds community better than gossip inspired by a show about over-privileged, white, high school students?
The Facebook page NYU Gossip Squirrel has skyrocketed in popularity since its launch on Tuesday — as of press time the page has over 1,700 likes. NYU Gossip Squirrel aims to bring the community together with the insatiable lust for every scrap of information about “the scandalous lives of NYU’s elite.”
At first it may not be obvious who constitutes NYU’s elite, but the Sprouse twins have already been selected as favorite subjects of the university’s rodent provocateur.
“Spotted on University Place: Cole Sprouse hand in hand with misc. NYU brunette. Let’s hope he kept his Tipton hotel key; it looks like these two lovebirds are gonna need to get a room,” Gossip Squirrel wrote.
Although your humble WSN writer has only seen a few episodes, I am relatively certain the mysterious mammal has nailed “Gossip Girl’s” teasing tone and signature sign-offs. Indeed, the only shame is that NYU does not have better gossip.
