New York University is one of several universities now offering free tampons at no cost to students. The development comes after a 2016 bill signed by Mayor Bill De Blasio requiring free menstrual hygiene products in public schools and efforts by student activists.
The university’s initiative to provide free menstrual hygiene products in restrooms brings NYU one step closer to creating a more inclusive academic environment. This intiative should be mimicked by other institutions.
