You can’t just pick and choose aspects of a culture that you like and then denounce the others simply because they are different from your own. That does not accurately represent the entire culture, and it is disingenuous.
Walking in the reverse direction intended on escalators — the so-called wrong way — is actually superior in many ways to conventional forms of escalator use, as it lends both a practical and a metaphorical function to a device that is otherwise purely a mode of transportation.
Although studies show that standing rather than walking on escalators will decrease travel time, people will continue to focus on their own interests instead of the greater good.
