To deem an entire class of speech as illegitimate, and not only illegitimate, but should be expectant of punishment, violence, and even the threat of ‘shutdown,’ as urged in multiple opinion articles published by WSN, is entirely antithetical to who we are as members of a university.
In the interest of free speech on campus, the College Republicans should be free to host Yiannopoulous. Whether someone wants to take him seriously as a political voice or dismiss him as a clownish caricature should be up to that individual.

Regardless of whether or not these feelings of hostility have been embellished or exaggerated, strict labeling and rejection of Trump supporters and the swirl of media that has ensued is detrimental to NYU, an institution renowned for its free speech, social movements and debate.

While the anti-vaccination movement is without merit, the removal of the controversial film "Vaxxed" undermines the integrity of the Tribeca Film Festival, and does little to prevent the spread of the anti-vaccination movement.
If Trump can attack the basis by which we define ourselves as a nation without even the slightest drop in polls, it is terrifying to imagine where the American people will draw the line, if they ever do.
By publishing the retention story and the drowning bunnies quote, the Mountain Echo has done its part in bringing justice to the university. With any luck, the administration will now hold itself accountable to the university community like it was always supposed to.
Efforts by faculty and students to disinvite speakers on college campuses is a net loss for learning, since college is a time for hearing opposing viewpoints.
