For the last three months, season three of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” has taken the world by storm. The show — which follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) as she navigates her coming-of-age and college life alongside her best friend Taylor Jewel (Rain Spencer), as well as a messy love triangle with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) — is equally as engrossing as Belly’s choice of attire. We often found ourselves wishing we could give Belly some advice about her life, of course — but more importantly, her outfits. Here’s how we would restyle Belly and Taylor for some pivotal moments throughout the show’s final season.
“Last Season” — Belly begins college

In the season three premiere, Belly moves into college in a striped long-sleeve top and jean shorts. Personally, moving all my boxes and duffel bags into college was a stressful, tiring and sweaty experience. To better prepare herself for the exhausting event that is move-in day, Belly needed an outfit that leaned more towards the athletic side — even though she showed some horrendous running form in the finale. I would dress her in light, breathable navy Nike parachute pants paired with a white body suit from Athleta, comfy white Reeboks, classic gold hoops and a simple gold necklace from Ana Luisa.

“Last Supper” — Belly breaks the news

In episode three, Belly rocks a not-so-cute coffee date outfit when she meets Taylor to break the news of her engagement. Belly’s style matches one of a middle school teenager toeing the boundaries of her school’s dress code. The shorts cut off at a weird height, somewhere in between micro length and jorts that look like she was trying to pass the fingertip rule. To match the coffee shop’s coziness, I would switch out her backpack for Brandy Melville’s shoulder bag and her Finch sweatshirt for H&M’s burgundy rib-knit sweater. To address the elephant in the room — her shorts — I would switch them out for Princess Polly’s gigi skort in black, giving the outfit a classic touch. I also added Adidas’ maroon Sambas and Lovisa’s gold plated bold taper hoop earrings, finishing the revamped look to fit the coffee shop’s chic vibe.

“Last Kiss” — Maid of honor Taylor

I can say a lot about Belly’s wedding, but I was hyperfixated on the decision behind Taylor’s maid of honor outfit — sure, the wet hair look is suitable for a red carpet event if you can pull it off, but for Belly’s wedding? The dress is cute, but improvements can be made. I would change her hair to something that’s more put-together, a straight blowout look with the ends curling inwards to frame her face. I’d style her in a baby blue strapless satin maxi dress, classy and chic. I would finish the look with sky blue kitten heel sandals and small gold hoop earrings to accessorize. This new outfit complements Belly’s favorite color, blue, and makes Taylor even hotter so she can impress Steven.

“At Last” — Belly in Paris

The last episode opens with Belly stunning the screen with a très élégant bob. But once the camera pans to her outfit, my reaction was far less complimentary. Her long tan shorts, paired with a striped crop top and heels, left me wondering if Belly was dressed for a rendezvous in Paris or an afternoon safari. While the outfit was meant to showcase her growth, the long shorts paired with high heels reminded me of the countless times I would play dress up in my mother’s closet as a seven-year-old. To restyle Belly to explore Paris with the love of her life, the atrocious shorts would be gone immediately, replaced with a matching white fitted set that is breathable for summer. For shoes, I would substitute the heels — which can easily cause a sprained ankle on Parisian cobblestone — with repetto flats for comfort and class. Belly can further elevate the outfit with a simple gold necklace and a two-toned gold and silver bangle that not only complements her skin tone, but also pairs well with the famous infinity necklace gifted to her by Conrad.
