With a historic church facade out front, an open-air courtyard in the back and 26 floors of large, suite-style rooms, Founders Hall is a popular choice for freshman. The residence houses over 700 students and is located on East 12th Street, about a 15-minute walk to Washington Square Park.

“I like how it’s further from campus,” CAS freshman Brynna Gross said. “It’s actually really nice to be able to go home at the end of the day, rather than be in the same area all the time.”

Founders is known for its spacious rooms with large windows, and incredible views on the higher floors. Steinhardt sophomore Jennifer Zhang still misses living on the 20th floor.

“Everyday, I got to see the sun set,” Zhang said. “It would be so, so pink.”

The downside of living at Founders is that there are very few common spaces and no kitchens. While the dining halls at Palladium Residence Hall and Third Avenue North Residence Hall are close, as well as Westside Market, students wish they at least had a communal kitchen.
