Lyn Devon Spring/Summer 2013

Lyn Devon, famous for her classic and luxury styles, showed her brighter side in her Spring/Summer 2013 collection, displaying pieces with fun prints, intricate details, and unusual textures.

The line revolved around the idea of the American girl going “South of the Border,” focusing on traditional aspects of Latin American prints and colors. Reds, browns, and whites ran rampant throughout the collection, with pops of vibrant yellow and lilac.

“My initial inspiration for the line [was] based on the idea of handcraft[ed] in the Americas” Devon stated.

Many pieces featured beautiful, luxurious textures such as little knotted pebbles and delicate fringe. Fabrics were light and summery, and included silky suedes and intricate lace inlays. One piece, a mid-length Printed Dress, featured a red and navy Otomi design, inspired by the traditional Otomi Mexican fabric. Soft pleats and tiny ruffles gave the ethnic inspiration a more delicate air.

While Devon’s new line explored an interesting palette of color and texture, she did so in feminine, classic cuts. The line showcased high-waisted pants, pencil skirts, delicate peplums and form-fitting dresses.
