Looking Picture Perfect on Graduation Day

Graduation is right around the corner, and after four years of hard work, the real adventure finally begins for the class of 2013. Before you get excited, remember that at commencement you will be surrounded by friends and loved ones, not to mention hundreds of cameras and Instagram addicts. Here are a few tips to help you look stunning for your graduation and post-graduation celebrations.

Plan your outfit

If you want to show off some designer fashion at graduation, check out Rent the Runway, the premiere website for renting designer garments. Here you’ll find dresses by Nicole Miller, Badgley Mischka, Dolce & Gabbana and more. If it’s your first time using the site, you’ll get $25 off your first dress.

Get your hair done

For a fabulous blowout, schedule an appointment at Drybar at 4 W. 16th St. in the Flatiron District. This blow dry bar, which only offers styling services — no haircuts — is where celebrities like Rose McGowan have their hair done. Get a sexy voluminous blowout for just $40, or upgrade to playful bouncy waves or an Audrey Hepburn-inspired updo.

Indulge in a makeover

Get rid of those post-finals undereye circles with a makeover at Sephora. Bring along pictures of what you’d like your makeup to look like, and let the beauty experts at the store give you a great makeover.

No makeover is complete without perfectly shaped eyebrows. Visit Benefit’s Brow Bar at 454 W. Broadway in SoHo and ask for their signature brow services. Well-shaped brows frame your face and enhance your expressions in photos.

Tips for men

Gentlemen, get your hair cut so you can take on the big day looking your best. Visit James Franco’s go-to spot, Barbiere, at Fifth Street and Second Avenue. Sip on a spirit of your choice and enjoy the classic blues spinning on their vintage record player as your hair is styled. Services begin at $20.

Once you have a fresh cut, make your way over to the Art of Shaving’s Barber Spa at Columbus Circle for a smooth groom. Try the luxurious-yet-simple traditional shave, which includes warm shaving cream and lavender essential oils that soothe your skin.
